Written decision on Faisal Vavda’s disqualification case released

The Supreme Court has issued a brief written judgment on the Faisal Vavda disqualification case.Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandyal wrote the 4-page judgment.
According to ARY News, the Supreme Court had issued a brief written judgment on the disqualification case of Faisal Vavda.
The judgment said that Faisal Vavda admitted that he had made a false statement. He was not eligible to become a member of the Legislative Assembly in 2018. Article 631C applies to Faisal Vavda’s confession.
As per the Supreme Court’s decision, Faisal Vavda will be disqualified for the term of the current assembly, after which he will be eligible to contest the next election.
In the written decision of the Supreme Court, it has been said that Faisal Vavda should immediately send his resignation from the Senate seat to the Senate Chairman.

The judgment also states that the Election Commission does not have the power to disqualify a candidate before an election. The judgment of the Islamabad High Court cannot be sustained in the eyes of law. Therefore, the judgments of disqualification for life delivered by the Election Commission and the High Court are hereby declared null and void.
