Mumbai: In a major crackdown, the Customs Department has arrested two foreign nationals at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Foreigners hid US dollars in the pages of books. Along with this, 2.5 kg gold in the form of paste has also been recovered from them. Both foreign passengers have been arrested. The police are interrogating them.
According to information, on January 22 and 23, Mumbai Airport Customs intercepted two foreign nationals in two separate cases and seized USD 90,000 hidden in book pages and 2.5 kg of gold in paste form. Both passengers have been arrested.

Earlier, two people were also arrested at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. 8.230 kg gold worth Rs 4.54 crore in paste form was seized from them. The DRI said it had received specific intelligence that gold in the form of paste was being smuggled into India by a syndicate of passengers traveling from Dubai to Mumbai on January 17.
