Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN) shares are in the news on Friday after an executive from OpenAI joined the board of directors of the crypto exchange company.
Coinbase has added Chris Lehane to its board. He is an executive at artificial intelligence (AI) Startup OpenAI. Investors should also keep in mind that Lehane was an aid to former President Bill Clinton.
Coinbase is strengthening its board to strengthen its support in the US government. The company is also expanding its board to include additional members who can help better deal with regulators.
COIN Stock: More Board Members
Another Addition to the board is Paul Clement. He was the U.S. Attorney General under former President George W. Bush. His addition shows that Coinbase is eager to win bipartisan support from former government officials.
The latest addition to Coinbase’s board is Christa Davies. She is CFO of Aeon (NYSE:AEON) and is a board member stripes And working day (NASDAQ:WDAY). With these new additions, the COIN board now consists of 10 directors.
COIN stock is up 6.2% since Friday morning. The stock is also up 56.7% since the start of the year.
