Man alleges son died of drug overdose, case filed against friend
Two days after a 28-year-old man died of an alleged drug overdose in Ludhiana’s Lohgarh village, the Ludhiana Rural Police on Tuesday registered an FIR.
The family of the deceased protested outside the Jodhan police station on Monday, alleging that his friend had drugged him.
Harjender Singh told the police that Jaskaran Singh of Dango village had come to his house to borrow his pick-up auto on the pretext of carrying some goods for the Lohri ceremony. Harjinder further said that the accused took his son Gurpreet Singh alias Sodhi (28) with him.
After some time, Harjinder was informed that his son was lying unconscious in the empty house. When he reached there, he found Jaskaran and his uncle Gurdas Singh trying to move their unconscious son elsewhere.
He added that he took his son to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. He added that the accused works at a chemist’s shop and he injected his son with narcotic after which he died.
ASI Baljeet Singh, who is investigating the case, said Jaskaran was booked under Section 304A (death caused by negligence) of IPC in an FIR registered at Jodhan police station. And the role of his uncle Gurdas Singh is also being examined.
Gurpreet Singh is survived by aged parents, wife and an infant son.
