Due to a bug in the NatWest app, customers are unable to make payments

For the second time in three months, the NatWest banking app experienced technical problems, leaving some customers unable to make payments or transfers on Friday morning.

More than a thousand angry customers reported problems on the DownDetector website starting around 7 a.m., with 67% citing mobile banking as a problem and 20% citing wire transfers.

The problem, which NatWest said was resolved around 9.30am, occurred for millions of Brits on payday.

This is NatWest’s second app outage in quick succession: at the end of May, thousands of customers reported being unable to access mobile and online banking services.
