Howrah: Today is the Republic Day and before that the Howrah City Police conducted an intensive search operation in various areas of Howrah city in connection with tight security arrangements. Along with this, special surveillance is also being done by drones. In this regard, Howrah City Police Commissioner Parveen Tripathi told Sunmarg that around 4000 policemen have been deployed in the entire district today. These include both uniform and civil dress. On the other hand, special arrangements have been made for drone monitoring in the control room. Apart from this, an investigation campaign is also being conducted in the hotels and lodges of Howrah. Checks were also carried out at major intersections and traffic checkpoints in the city. River traffic is being scooted by two boats. The city police have issued strict instructions to police personnel to search for any suspicious person or objectionable material. He said that security has been increased at various intersections and important commercial establishments to prevent any untoward incident on Republic Day.
