The Naxalites killed the villager on suspicion of being a police informer.
doll: A 30-year-old man was allegedly killed by Naxalites on suspicion of being a police informer in Chhattisgarh’s Gariyaband district, police said on Sunday.
The incident took place in the Umlepadar police station area, where a group of Naxalites stormed a villager’s house in Kharipatha village on the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border, an official said.
He said that the accused forcibly took the villager, identified as Ramdar, to the nearby forest.
The body of the man was found this morning in a forest about 7 km from the village, the official said.
He said that a police team reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
“Initially, it appears that the person was strangulated but the exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem,” the official said.
A pamphlet was recovered from the spot, in which the Udanti Area Committee of Maoists claimed that the victim was working as a police informer, the official said, denying the man’s link with the police.
