According to the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI, 2023) published by Germany-based German Watch, New Climate Institute and Climate Action Network International, India now ranks eighth after jumping two places.
The latest CCPI report, released at COP27 on Tuesday, shows Denmark, Sweden, Chile and Morocco as the only four small countries ranked above India. First, second and third positions were not given to any country. In fact, India ranks among the best among all major economies, an official statement said.
Based on climate change performance, India has been ranked among the top 5 countries in the world and the best among the G20 countries.
