A human rights lawyer has welcomed the Commonwealth’s commitment to protect whistleblowers, but says more must be done.

Labor’s move to strengthen whistleblower protections has been cautiously welcomed by human rights advocates.
Attorney General Mark Dreyfus addressed an anti-corruption conference this morning where he vowed to introduce changes. Public Interest Disclosure Act before the end of the year.
“This Bill will ensure that the Public Sector Whistleblower Scheme is immediately improved. [National Anti-Corruption Commission] Starts in mid-2023,” Dreyfuss told the Australian Public Sector Anti-Corruption Conference in Sydney.
