Bribery WCL manager arrested for taking bribe
Nagpur. A WCL manager, who accepted a bribe of Rs 50,000 for paying a gratuity to an employee working in his own department, was arrested red-handed by the Nagpur branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation. The arrested manager has been identified as SM Dhande. Dhande is manager of mining department of Mahakali underground mine in Chandrapur. The complainant was also said to be an employee of WCL. He retired some time ago.
The employee applied to the Dhande office for sanction of gratuity. Dhande stipulated to receive a gratuity of Rs 20 lakh on payment of Rs 50,000. The victim lodged a complaint with the Nagpur branch of the CBI. After confirmation, the CBI team laid a trap in Dhande’s office on Wednesday. He was arrested red-handed while taking 50 thousand rupees.
CBI SP Salim Khan has appealed to citizens to contact the CBI office directly if officials of any central government department, public sector unit, bank and insurance company demand bribe.
