A new Visa service means travelers who lose their wallet can now receive a digital replacement card via text message or email.
According to a Visa report, 74% of US travelers now use digital wallets during their trips.
The digital emergency card replacement service is designed to enable financial institutions to provide their cardholders with seamless and hassle-free travel around the globe.
Upon request, a new digital card will be sent to the cardholder on behalf of the issuer so that they can authenticate and add it to their digital wallet.
Kathleen Pierce-Gilmore, Global Head, Issuing Solutions, Visa, says: “We’ve all felt that moment of panic while on holiday – losing a card and feeling stranded.”
“Our new digital emergency card solution addresses exactly these problems. It provides travelers with instant and secure access to funds while enabling issuers to provide world-class customer service.”
