Scheduled blackout in Kyiv leaves residents without power for 5 hours – DTEK

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik – November 27, 2022) Emergency programs have been launched for power outages in Kyiv leaving the city’s residents without power for a maximum of five consecutive hours, DTEK Grids Operating Holding said.
DTEK chief executive Oleksandr Fomenko said on Friday that only 30% of Kievites have electricity.
The Ukrainian utility said, “The emergency shutdown continues in Kyiv. From now on, DTEK will turn off power to all residents, so that the interruption of power supply for each customer does not exceed five hours.” Saturday’s statement on social media.
Earlier in the day, the Kyiv military administration said on social media that some 130,000 people in Ukraine’s capital were without power as of Saturday morning after massive blackouts this week.
Later in the day, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a quarter of the residents of Ukraine’s capital had no electricity as of Saturday, but the city had already been able to switch over scheduled power outages.
Much of Kyiv was plunged into darkness on Wednesday after Russia attacked the city’s military command post and associated power grid. The Ukrainian Energy Ministry said a day later that it had restored power supplies to critical infrastructure.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on 1 November that about 40% of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure had been damaged as a result of Russia’s precision attacks against Ukraine’s infrastructure, which began in retaliation for the terrorist attack on the Crimea bridge on 10 October causing a massive blackout. … all over the country. Ukrainian media last week cited DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private investor in the energy sector, as reporting that blackouts in Ukraine could be prolonged as winter approaches and temperatures drop.
