Montonio, the European payment and e-commerce solutions provider, is pleased to announce the addition of Johan Nord, formerly of Trustly, to its leadership team as Chief Revenue Officer to strengthen its growth and expansion in Europe.

This appointment represents an important milestone for Montonio and reflects the company’s current phase of growth and its commitment to attracting top talent in the payments and fintech industries.

Johan comes to Montonio with a wealth of experience and a proven track record from Trustly, where his leadership and commitment have been instrumental in making Trustly the open banking leader it is today.

Johan commented: “I am very pleased to join Montonio as Chief Revenue Officer. I look forward to working with the talented and high-performing team and bringing to market the extremely compelling merchant offering for payments and postal checkout services. The combination of market-leading conversion, availability of key local payment methods and operational efficiency through postal checkout services is unique. Taken together, they provide significantly more value than the individual parts, as the growth of Montonio’s dealer base is clear evidence of this.”

Markus Lember, CEO and co-founder of Montonio, commented: “It is a great pleasure for us to welcome Johan to Montonio. With many exciting growth opportunities ahead, Johan’s leadership, experience and proven ability to scale will be of great value to Montonio and the merchants we serve.”

Since announcing its Series A funding in 2022, Montonio has made significant progress by partnering with over 6,000 online stores in Poland, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland. In addition, the company has expanded its product offering through the integration of Apple Pay and Google Pay, the direct integration of BLIK into merchant checkouts in Poland and the introduction of automatic refunds for online stores. The company has also entered into strategic partnerships with Venipak for shipping within the Baltics and Inbank for exclusive BNPL and installment payment services through Montonios Checkout. A milestone is the addition of Totalizator Sportowy as a significant customer in Poland. Additionally, Montonio’s secured extension of its payment institution license through the Bank of Lithuania enables the company to hold customer funds and offer additional payment services, marking a significant step towards strengthening its fintech offering.
